Pharmacokinetics and Drug MetabolismWhat you will doIn this vital
role as the Executive Director, Pharmacokinetics and Drug
Metabolism (PKDM), you will be the leader of PKDM Analytical
Sciences, Data Sciences, and Biomarker team interfacing and
building partnerships across Research and Development to PKDM.This
role will report into the Vice President of PKDM. This role is
located within the United States, in Thousand Oaks, CA with
expected travel to South San Francisco at least
quarterly.Responsibilities:
- Oversee analytical, data, and biomarker sciences innovation
impacting Research & Development.
- Develop strategy and goals to meet Research and Development
business deliverables, affecting decision making and advancing
Amgen's pipeline.
- Establish and execute strategic plans and scientific goals for
non-regulated bioanalytical sciences, data sciences, and biomarker
strategies in collaboration with key stakeholders across research,
aiding in the transition to development.
- Drive strategic direction for PKDM analytical and data
sciences, progressing the Research portfolio from new targets
through IND, focusing on developing and implementing innovative
workflows into reverse translation.
- Ensure quality, continuity, and impact of non-clinical
analytical results from research into clinical development.
- Lead teams responsible for bioanalytical, biomarkers, and data
sciences deliverables.
- Develop scientific, workflow, and process improvements to meet
current and future innovation demand in translational sciences for
Research.
- Influence and contribute to PKDM departmental goals,
operations, and deliverables.
- Responsible for decision making on budget, resources,
instruments, and staff scope within the function to deliver on
Research & Development business goals successfully.
- Provide insights and advice to VP PDKM on strategic directions
with 3-5 year-time horizons.
- Deliver on non-regulated bioanalytical goals with quality and
compliance to advance the Research and Development Pipeline.
- Influence Research level strategy and goals related to
Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, and Translational Pharmacology,
identifying opportunities to accelerate innovation.
- Develop and implement a strategy for resourcing the analytics
group and delivering on Research Goals.
- Address key Research & Development portfolio risks regarding
non-regulated bio analytics and data sciences.
- Act as PKDM's liaison to key partners, including Precision
Medicine, Translational Safety and Bioanalytical, Center for
Research Acceleration by Digital Innovation, Amgen Technology and
Medical Organizations, Digital, Technology & Innovation, Clinical
Biomarkers, and Therapeutic Area Leaders.
- Represent Amgen and PKDM externally in scientific and
business-related organizations.
- Develop workflows and future directions for analytical and data
sciences, focusing on internal strengths and externalization
opportunities.
- Integrate analytical and biomarker data with digital tools into
Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning data initiatives across
Research and Development.
- Develop a talent pipeline of high-caliber scientists in
analytical and data sciences.What we expect of youThe candidate we
seek is an experienced leader with the following
qualifications.Basic Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree & 6 years of Analytical
Sciences/Pharmaceutical Sciences experience OR
- Masters degree & 10 years of Analytical Sciences/Pharmaceutical
Sciences experience OR
- Bachelors degree & 12 years of Analytical
Sciences/Pharmaceutical Sciences experience AND
- 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people
and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or
directing the allocation of resources.Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Analytical Sciences, Pharmaceutical
Sciences, or related discipline.
- 15+ years or more experience leading functions strategically
and scientifically in analytical, data and biomarker sciences
related research and innovation, preferably in the therapeutic
areas of Cardiovascular and Metabolic, Inflammation, Oncology, and
Rare Disease.
- 10+ years or more industry experience, including 6 years of
experience leading teams in research in the areas of Analytical
Sciences and Biomarker research.
- Strong understanding of Drug Discovery and Development with an
emphasis in translational sciences as they relate to analytical
sciences in pharmacokinetics and biomarkers.
- Fundamental level of understanding for the application of
artificial intelligence and data sciences.
- Experience in departmental and organizational leadership
including, but not limited to, managing teams, budgets and
operations.
- Strong track record of innovation impact internally and

results.What you can expect of usThe annual base salary range for
this opportunity in the U.S. is $279,451 - $312,792.In addition to
